IPL also known as Photo Facial, Photo rejuvenation, or "nonablative resurfacing" has become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures being performed. IPL technology is one of the latest and most effective techniques in skin rejuvenation. It uses light and heat to target certain chromophores
in the skin that cause the discolorations often related to sun damage and the natural aging process, while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. With just one treatment the Palomar StarLux is able to target and treat the majority of skin problems, including lines, wrinkles, brown spots, photo damage, broken capillaries (commonly called small spider veins on the face), and redness.
IS IPL A LASER?
No. IPL is not a laser, but it does use light to treat photo damage and other skincare concerns. Unlike a laser, IPL uses a broad spectrum of light. This makes it capable of treating a wide variety of skin types and problems. Our treatments are less invasive and require significantly less downtime as compared to a laser treatment. Our clients are often able to return to their normal daily activities immediately following their treatment!
WHY IS THE PALOMAR STAR LUX SUPERIOR TO OTHER IPL MACHINES?
·For maximum power, fluency and efficiency, Palomar Star Lux utilizes a square beam profile with a full spectrum wavelength light flash. The sapphire crystal lenses capture scattered light, returning and refocusing it for each energy pulse. This phenomenon of light energy recycling provides a reduction of wasted light. Multi-pulsation control, chromophore efficiency and super-selective photothermolysis allow us to adjust the system to meet the specific needs of our clients and maximize effectiveness. This unique capability makes Palomar Star Lux superior to fixed IPL systems.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE PROCEDURE?
A gentle flash of intense light is quickly pulsed over the treatment area with a controlled tissue repair time until the area has received an adequate "dose" of light energy. The tissue repair times allows for the temperature of the skin and light to cool before the next flash in order not to cause any insult to the area which makes this device safe for all skin types.
IS IT UNCOMFORTABLE?
Most of our clients find the process surprisingly comfortable. Palomar Star Lux chilled sapphire tip provides skin cooling to keep the skin cool during the treatment.· Photo rejuvenation treatments are so quick and easy, the comfort factor is generally not an issue. Isolated areas such as a single vessel or brown spot may also be accommodated.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS DOES IT TAKE?
Every client is different, as is the number of treatments required for improvement. A variety of factors, including amount, location, age and the extent of photo damage present are all things that must be considered. Most clients see dramatic results with their first session. However, to receive lasting results we recommend a package of 3 to 6 sessions depending upon your desired outcome.
CAN TREATMENTS BE DONE ON ANY PART OF THE BODY?
Yes. Treatments for the face, neck, décolleté, shoulders and hands are very popular but photo rejuvenation may be extended to other areas as well.· ·
